Having spent my childhood in Brazil gave me lots of time to wander around among contorting trees and insect filled jungles as well as the mass of concrete that is the city of São Paulo. Those moments of watching all the unrecognizable moving bits, the sourceless sounds and the darkened corners that stare back at you of such environments became crucial experiences that now inform a lot of my art making, creative processes and behaviours.

I often portray in my work those natural and unnatural inspired observations, the creatures and stories I made up that weren’t really there, the plants I looked at from a little too close, the insects I captured against my mother’s wishes and tried to keep as pets, the hard edges and obtuse lightning of a giant sprawling crumbling city, the echoes of spiral repetitive thinking of staring too long.

Having spent a number of years going back and forth between places I currently reside and work as a full time artist in Calgary AB. When not making stuff, you can catch me sometimes biking, sometimes wandering, sometimes fishing, a lot of the time playing MTG.
